Tax year 2026

New Hampshire Take-Home Pay by Salary — 2026

New Hampshire levies no individual income tax. For a single filer in New Hampshire, take-home pay is $42,355 on a $50,000 salary, $79,180 on $100,000 and $183,182 on $250,000, after federal income tax, Social Security, Medicare and state income tax.

In New Hampshire the share of salary that goes to tax rises from 12.38% at $30,000 to 31.90% at $500,000. None of it is state income tax: the whole difference is federal income tax and payroll tax, the same in every state.

Against the other jurisdictions, New Hampshire ranks 1st of 51 for take-home pay at $75,000 and 1st at $250,000, highest first. No New Hampshire locality levies an income tax, so these figures are complete for wages.

Filing status changes the figure. On $75,000 a married couple filing jointly in New Hampshire keeps $64,623 and a head of household $63,515, against $61,593 for a single filer. Spread over 2,080 working hours, a single filer's take-home is $20 an hour at $50,000 and $38 at $100,000.

Next door, a $75,000 salary leaves Vermont $2,426 less, Maine $3,385 less, Massachusetts $3,530 less than the $61,593 it leaves in New Hampshire. The Interest & Dividends Tax (RSA chapter 77) was repealed effective for taxable periods beginning after December 31, 2024, so there is no New Hampshire individual income tax of any kind for tax year 2025 or later.

Each of the 25 New Hampshire salaries below has its own page with all four filing statuses, the bracket each tax reaches and the same salary in the other 50 jurisdictions. For a salary not listed, or for dependents, use the take-home calculator set to New Hampshire.
